Indoor Cycling is key to being The Biggest Loser!
Is anyone else secretly obsessed with The Biggest Loser? Let's just say that even though we know the formula (intense workouts, emotional breakdowns, weekly weigh ins) we regularly tune in just to see the pounds drop.
So, we were thrilled by the news that the newest Biggest Loser, Olivia, loves indoor cycling and is planning to incorporate frequent cycle workouts into her weight management plan. Here's what she had to say:
"My goal is to do 90 minutes five to six days [of spinning] a week, in the mornings just like everybody else, and get it done and still watch what I put in my mouth, and make sure I’m keeping everything in check so that I can maintain this and it can be something that is maintainable," she said.
"I’m such a huge indoor spinner and runner. And I think that the type of body composition that I’m going to have is going to be along the lines of that, because that’s what I enjoy, she said. "I know if I stick with that, because I enjoy it, I know it’s something that I will keep up with long-term, so that’ my plan. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to keep the shape, hopefully, for the rest of my life."

Personalized Boot Camp!
It's no secret that boot camp workouts are a great way to shape and tone your body quickly. Boot camp workouts are:
* A great way to burn lots of calories
* Efficient -- you work your entire body in a short period of time
* Fun -- each exercise is different so you don't get bored
* Easy to fit into a busy schedule -- you can do it anywhere, with little equipment
* As challenging as you want them to be
McMinnville Cycle & Sport is offering a chance to get personalized boot camp sessions that are developed specifically for YOU and YOUR FITNESS GOALS.
Do you want to lose weight? Are you training for a race or other sporting event? Eager to shape up for your wedding day?
Or maybe you are just a bit scared of boot camps {Are they hard? Painful?} and think a few one-on-one sessions would be better than a 5AM class with an angry drill master?
We're here to help. Contact Tara to arrange for private boot camp training for you and a friend or small group.
Together we'll work towards your fitness goals, exercise outside whenever possible, and most important of all -- have fun! Call us. Summer is a great season for boot camp!
See you soon!

Working Out While Away From Home!
We've been on the road a lot lately for business and pleasure. And one of the top things that all those suitcases, airports, and rental cars made us think about was how to workout while on the road.
Some of us go on vacation to relax and give exercise a break -- a great thing to do. For others, having a bit more time on our hands makes us excited to exercise in a new location, squeeze in a longer-than-normal workout, or try something new.
Here are some tips for working out while away from home:
Do some pre-trip research! Does your hotel have an exercise facility -- a workout room or a pool? Pack your gear! Or perhaps there's a well known park or running trail that is safe and easy to maneuver? Plan to get up early or take a long stroll after your morning coffee.
Gear Up For Adventure. A trip is the perfect time to try something that might normally scare you. Try a yoga or pilates class. If people you know are vacationing in McMinnville, suggest a cycle class with us! It is easy to drop in and a cycling workout is a great way to help recover from a big day of wine tasting and tasty bites.
Get Creative. Exercise in your hotel room on a mat using a workout that has been downloaded to your computer or i-pod. Or take your workout with you -- if you are traveling for pleasure consider packing your bike. It is great exercise and a wonderful way to see the city. And vacation or not, Mac Cycle Sport is hosting outdoor bike rides this spring and summer. Join us!
Stay Motivated. As always, being ready to workout is important regardless of if you are traveling or not. Make sure to pack workout clothes and shoes, sunglasses, layers, water bottles, and play lists. Think about when your schedule might be flexible enough to exercise and make it happen. Even if all you have time for is a walk or run, this little burst will help you meet your fitness goals. And speaking of running, if you (or your vacationing in-laws, cousins, and best friends) need some training motivation, join us for RunMac! These outdoor runs are a great way to meet new fitness goals or simply stay in shape for shorts and bathing suit season.

Our First 15 Minutes of Fame
We just can't get over how cool it was to have Drew Carney from KGW visit McMinnville Cycle and Sport. Have you watched it yet?
Despite the insanely early hour, enthusiasm was high. Drew's one of those people who seems like he's just had a triple espresso... All the time. We cranked up the resistance on the bikes, we used the bands to help tone arms and abs. We had a great time!
It was fun to watch the behind-the-scenes of TV production and even more fun to see a whole class decide out in Mac Cycle and Sport gear. We have the best and most loyal Mac athletes ever!
Hope to see you in class SOON. We can't promise that Drew will be there, but we can promise a great workout and a good time.

MacCycle goes LIVE on KGW!
Is Drew Carney ready for McMinnville Cycle and Sport? We'll find out this Wednesday from 5 to 7AM when KGW comes to visit us for an early morning workout!
We hear Drew is limbering up for his time on the bike and we can't wait to test his strength and endurance with a rocking MacCycle Sport workout.
Be sure to tune in to KGW on Wednesday from 5 to 7 AM. Drew will be interviewing Tara, exercising with early morning classes, and more. Check back after Wednesday when we'll post photos, and (hopefully) video of what we know will be an exciting morning!

New For Spring: Outdoor Rides!
We are so excited about our new outdoor rides! CycleOutside is perfect for race training, to vary your existing workout, to get accustomed to riding on the road, or simply for fun!
Join us two times a week for CycleOutside: Tuesdays at 6:00PM, and Sundays at 3:00PM. We will add more rides in the morning and evening as the days get longer and warmer and there is more and more light.

* Meet at the studio and we'll proceed from there. Each ride will be led by a trained instructor and you'll ride the best and most beautiful Willamette Valley cycling routes.
* If the weather is bad, we will ride inside. The first 10 people to reserve rides are guaranteed bikes if we have to move indoors.
* You must bring your own helmet and bike.
* Beginner and advanced riders are welcome.
* Rides are FREE!
What a great way to amp up your workout and celebrate Spring! Bring your friends and see you soon!

Lululemon Trunk Show Saturday March 5th!
We LOVE Lululemon athletic wear. It is comfortable, colorful, and great for anything from a tough cycling workout to picking up the kids from school. Plus we love their amazing mission statement, and strive to embody this positive, self-loving, water drinking lifestyle at Mac Cycle & Sport.
So we are thrilled to announce that on Saturday, March 5th, 2011 from 10AM-12PM, we're hosting a Lululemon trunk show!
Join us at the studio to see (and buy) cool Lululemon goods that will take your workouts from winter into spring. We particularly love the scuba hoodie -- perfect for bundling up in after a long sweaty class. Come, and bring your friends for a fun morning!
But there's more news too: We're changing the Saturday class schedule! Now we just have one class at 9AM. This class usually fills up, so book early and come often to make sure there's always a bike for you.
So -- will we see you on Saturday? 9 AM class followed by Lululemon trunk show? Is there anything better? Can't wait.

Childcare at Mac Cycle + Sport
It's hard to carve out a time for exercise when you are taking care of little ones. We understand! All of our instructors are mothers, and have first hand experience balancing child rearing and personal fitness.
This is part of the reason it was so important to offer child care at McMinnville Cycle + Sport. That's right, bring your kids to certain classes, and they'll play happily while you burn off anxieties, frustrations, and stress. We can't promise, but we're betting that an investment in your personal fitness will make you a happier parent. And we're glad to help.
Here's the details: Starting JANUARY 10th, child care will be available between 8:30 – 10:30 AM and 5:00 – 7:00 PM. You must reserve your child’s spot when you reserve your bike. Child care punch cards are available to purchase; one punch card with 10 prepaid visits is $15 for the first child and $10 for the second. The drop in fee is $3.00/per child.
More info about reservations and schedule here.
And check out our round-up of everything that's happening at Mac Cycle + Sport here. (Free classes on Friday, an open house tomorrow, deals, deals, deals....)
